Both conference finals in the 2015 Stanley Cup is going to be decided by a game seven. Chicago and Rangers tied the series to 3-3 in game six and we are looking forward to two decisive games from which the winners will reach the Stanley Cup final.
Tampa Bay 3-7 New York Rangers (3-3)
Rangers, who were down 3-1 in the series against Washington earlier, had to win game six against Tampa to push towards a decisive game seven. The away team got a good start in the first period, with two goals playing five against five. Tampa reduced the lead to 2-1 in power play before the break. They had their chances to tie the game in the second period, but Henrik Lundqvist in the Rangers goal did a number of great saves. Rangers could instead increase their lead to 3-1 three minutes into the third period. 4-1 came seven minutes into the third. A minute later, Derick Brassard scored his second goal of the evening, making it 5-1 for the Rangers. Tampa switched goalies at the end, only to see Rick Nash score 6-1 on a rebound. Although Tampa made two comforting goals, Brassard could score his third goal of the game, completing the hat-trick, in open net. 7-3 Rangers. Game seven awaits!
Anaheim 2-5 Chicago (3-3)
Chicago were in the same situation as the Rangers: they had to win away to keep the series alive. The first period of game six was scoreless. Half way into the second period Chicago could get the 1-0 lead which is a particular good thing in this series: The team that has scored the first game has won every time. Marian Hossa made it 2-0 för the Blackhawks a few minutes later. Patrick Kane increased the lead to three a minute later after some excellent dekes in Anaheim’s zone. The Ducks answered in the power play though and the score was 3-1 Chicago before the third period. Anaheim reduced the lead again in the beginning of the third, and got the chance to tie in power play. However, Chicago managed to keep the puck out of their net. They could also increase their lead 4-2 with four minutes left of the game. The last goal came in the empty net which meant we have another game seven to look forward to!
Our prediction: Chicken Swedes predict that ”Mr Game Seven” Henrik Lundqvist will take the rangers to another Stanley Cup final where they will meet… Anaheim!
